Yan’s Theatre 恩藝劇社
London Cantonese Language Youth Theatre Company
Fusing both the GCSE Chinese syllabus (Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking) and Theatre in Education’s pedagogy, we will design and deliver tailored and original Cantonese theatre workshops full of engaging drama games and devising activities, facilitating participants’ Cantonese practice and learning in a lively, creative manner
Based on each participant’s interests, Cantonese language level and learning needs, we will devise original theatre performances with showcases at the end of the Autumn and Summer terms respectively. Families, friends and caregivers will be invited to enjoy the showcases
Yan’s Theatre classes are suitable for children aged 6-11 and 12-16 with a basic level of spoken Cantonese
Each small-sized class will consist of 6-10 participants, ensuring each participant is looked after with care and thoughtful attention
The theatre classes will take place weekly, with registrations and fee payment taking place each term: the Autumn term - early September to early November; the Spring term - early January to late March; the Summer term - mid-April to late July
The cost of each class will be £20-30
The exact location and timings of the classes are yet to be determined, which is why we are collecting expressions of interests and gathering thoughts from parents and caregivers. Feel free to fill in the form above or email us at yanstheatre@icloud.com !

Why am I starting Yan’s Theatre classes?
I started participating in Cantonese and English youth theatre since I was 7, through which I developed keen linguistic sensibilities, emotional intelligence, self-confidence in public speaking, as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills. While I have been teaching English language youth theatre classes in London, I have yet to meet many children of East & South East Asian heritages, nor have there been long-term Cantonese youth theatre classes available. Therefore, I would like to establish Yan’s Theatre to create more creative and educational space for Cantonese learning and practice, passing down Cantonese to future generations.
